Seeds/Blurbs

Blurbs that need poems to hold them
1\.
Faithfulness ≠ love, it is just your ethics
2\.
\[... lived, …\]
once and many times
3\.
Sodium peach light.
4\.
I'll visit the dark underground
once I conquer the roaring sun
\\The sieve poem (established spine):\\
How can I love
someone
when I arrive at a judgement
at the first pulse?
I look past the skin, the flag,
siphon the curation
through my sieve, my eyes.
I carry my name like a tag,
my name doesn't hold me.
\\Strongest standalone material:\\
You hold the dress up for me,
a dress you'd never afford,
and I'll buy but never wear.
The dress shines lonely..
\\Sieve poem doughnuts (ranked):\\
A house with no books,
or worse — with only one.
You flip burgers, like you flipped your dreams.
the heirloom diamond that endured nothing
carefully ripped jeans
torn blazer that saw decades
\\Other keepers:\\
Sleepy sheep sleeps / silently snoring solo.
we declare truce
I pick what I prefer.
pigeon, penguin, puffin (the full Paula bit — light, charming, might be a whole
small poem)
I rode a bike and had goat cheese salad. / And craved peanut butter with my
steak / and had those too.
\\Lines with potential but not there yet:\\
the brown bruise of a fuchsia
the ornate craft of a pawned clock
the floating hummingbird

Invented Words

dobokoned (adj.) Having done the thing and found nothing in your hands. The
state after an achievement that turns out to have been made of the wanting: no
loss to mourn, no win to hold, just done. Flat by design; the three round o's
don't rise because nothing in it does. Nine days on a bug, one character, all
tests green, and he sat there dobokoned.
dungbooshed (adj.) Struck by the cost of your own win. The pyrrhic sibling
of dobokoned: there's a body on the floor and it's someone you love. Two thuds,
the second one landing. He beat his best friend for class president and walked
home dungbooshed.
lovugitive (n.) One who flees a home while still loving what's in it,
because staying would end them. A fugitive with an ambiguous charge, fleeing
love or fleeing for it, and the word won't say which. The crushed middle
syllable is the bruise. By March he was a lovugitive with two suitcases and her
key still on his ring.
lofitude (n.) The condition of the year after. Life at reduced fidelity:
small rooms, everything still loved, playing quietly through one bad speaker.
Sits beside solitude and fortitude and is neither. The lovugitive's lofitude: a
loft, a lamp, the same three songs.
